Now, a question might arise in your mind, "How is this street a playground?" Well if you are an Indian, I guess you already know the answer to that question. For those unaware of the issue, there is huge lack of good, playable playgrounds in India and the ones present are already overcrowded with kids and far from the vicinity of the majority of the kids. So, it is the time that we need more playgrounds in India and here are 7 reasons why we need more playgrounds in India.

1. Streets are not meant for sports:
Streets are constructed for vehicles and passengers to travel from one place to another and not for sports. Playing any sport on a street compromises the safety of both the players and the travelers. It can distract or disturb the driver's attention and lead to road accidents. Also, the tough road surface and the sports equipment like a ball can cause serious injuries to both the travelers and players.

2. To promote physical exercise:
Obesity and other health-related issues are on a rise in our country. In today's world dominated by smartphones and computers, the construction of more playgrounds can help encourage both kids and elders to exercise regularly. The benefits of physical exercise are infinite but here are a few:
a. Strengthen bones and improve mental health
b. To prevent obesity and control weight
c. Improve the concentration level
d. Reduce stress, tension, and anxiety
e. Regulate blood pressure and sugar levels
f. Improve immunity and protect against diseases
And many more.

3. To encourage sports participation in India
One of the major reasons why India managed to win only two medals at the Rio Olympics 2016 was the lack of quality practice grounds in India. Having more playgrounds can be a boost for future athletes and sportsmen of our country. This can help promote and encourage sports participation in our country and perform better at international levels.

4. To improve the social life of kids:
We live in the age of social media and smartphones where human interaction is lessening day by day. A playground can be a place to fill in that loophole and let kids have a better and active social life by interacting and having fun with other kids.

5. To help reduce stress:
I know I covered this point while talking about the benefits of physical exercise but in this new world where schools and workplaces are surrounded by intense pressure and competition, an hour of physical exercise every day can help countering that stress effectively. A simple exercise like a  light walk in the park among the greenery can reduce the levels of stress hormones in the body and elevate the mood.

6. For overall development of children:
A playground can act as a place for the complete development of kids. Our education system is designed in such a way that schools tend to focus more on academics rather than physical, mental, social and emotional development of kids. A playground within a school or outside can help overcome this lack and help in the social, mental, physical and emotional development of a child.

7. Many more reasons:
There are a lot of other reasons why we need more playgrounds. There are many more benefits of playgrounds and we need to construct more of them. Some of the other benefits are:
a. They teach kids about nature.
b. They improve imagination ability among kids.
c. They teach kids some essential life skills.
